03Universal waste

Old hardware out, with a record of where it went.

Don't be e-wasteful. If it's no longer working or too old, we're happy to help you responsibly recycle & dispose of any electronic device.

What this is

Two problems in one pallet.

Desktops, laptops, servers, monitors, printers, phones, network gear. Old IT is two problems at once: a disposal problem and a data problem. We take the hardware and we document the chain of custody so you can show where it went.

Hardware leaving the building is a data question before it is a disposal question. Somebody will eventually ask where one specific machine went, and the only good answer is a record with that collection on it. The bad version is a pile that left in a stranger’s van with nothing written down.

Data and heavy metals. Old equipment carries both off your site.

What this covers
  • Desktops, laptops and servers
  • Monitors and displays
  • Printers, copiers and scanners
  • Phones and tablets
  • Network and telecom gear
  • Cable, adapters and peripherals
Chain of custody

Three handoffs, all of them written down.

The question nobody asks until they have to is who had the machine, and when. These are the same three steps as any other pickup, read as custody rather than as service.

Handoff 1

You hand it over

Call, or send a photo of the pile. Rough counts are fine. We will tell you what we take and what we do not.

Handoff 2

We move it

DOT-approved containers arrive sized for your material. We pack it, load it, and transport it to a registered recycling facility.

Handoff 3

You hold the record

Your Certificate of Recycling and disposal paperwork come back to you electronically, ready to file and ready to show.

Before we arrive

Strip what you want to keep first.

  • 01Pull anything you want to keep first. Drives, licence stickers, removable media, power supplies.
  • 02Note the serials or asset tags for the machines that matter to you before they move.
  • 03Keep monitors and displays out of the stack. Screens travel separately.
  • 04Tell us what is still storing data so it is handled deliberately rather than incidentally.
What comes back

The record is the deliverable.

Certificate of Recycling

The document that says the material was recycled and names where it went. It is the piece an inspector or an auditor actually wants to see.

Disposal paperwork for the file

The proper paperwork and certificates verifying environmentally responsible disposal, made out to the business that generated the material.

Electronic copies

We take care of the paperwork and make sure you have electronic copies, so the record is not one sheet of paper in one binder.

Gem City collects and transports. The processing facilities are separate registered operations, and the certificate names where the material was delivered.

One question, and we can size it

What is data-bearing, and what you need to be able to prove afterwards. That answer shapes the paperwork more than the count does.

Don't be e-wasteful

Clear the IT closet.

The closet is empty, the hardware is accounted for, and you can answer where any of it went. Tell us what is in there and what is still storing data. Rough counts are fine.
